Code Of Practice

A code of practice that ensures protection of international student’s welfare by all education providers came into force in 2002. Only signatories to the code will be allowed to enroll international students. Quality Assurance

To ensure that both the Government and individuals are investing in quality education, training and assessment, the Government has set up nationally recognised processes of quality assurance. There are a number of government appointed bodies responsible for approving qualifications in New Zealand and for the quality that determines the delivery of qualifications. These bodies are:

New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA)

Responsible for approving and registering all courses and national qualifications offered at polytechnics and priva1te training establishments.

New Zealand Vice-Chancellor's Committee (NZVCC)

Responsible for approving all diplomas, undergraduate and graduate programmes offered by New Zealand universities.

In New Zealand The Education System Is Followed By The Levels. These Levels Are Classified As :

Level 5 to 6 : Diplomas (Class 12th)
• Level 7 : UG and Graduate Diploma (Bachelor's)
• Level 8 : Post Graduate Diploma (Bachelor's)
• Level 9 : Masters
• Level 10 : PhD
The major intakes of New Zealand Universities & Institutions are Feb/July. However many programmes have a midyear intake in July. Also some institutes have rolling admissions throughout the year.

REQUIREMENTS TO STUDY IN NEW ZEALAND

Academic Requirements
Good Academic Grades

For Bachelor degrees you need a minimum score of 75% in XII and for graduate diploma courses you need to score between 50-55% in Class XII. Those interested in Post graduate diploma programs need a minimum score of 55-60% in their bachelor's degrees. To pursue masters you would need a minimum score of 60% with relevant work experience in the same field.

English Requirement

ELTS/ TOEFL is not mandatory in New Zealand. If a student has good academic scores in English in class 12th then his/her IELTS/TOEFL can be Waived Off.

Proof of proper finances : You need show enough documented evidence to prove that you or your sponsors have the finances to support your education and life in New Zealand.
Students can apply under the FTS scheme wherein 1 day old funds can be shown.

LIVING IN NEW ZEALAND

Accomodation In New Zealand

Multiple accommodation options are available to students that include on campus stay, home stay with a local family or off campus accommodation in a rented flat usually shared by friends or acquaintances. Halls of Residence are generally located a short walk from campus where the rooms are single or twin-share, with communal laundry, lounge room and dining hall. Meals are usually provided, and all dietary needs can be catered for. Rental accommodation is generally clustered around colleges and universities, but flats can be found in most city suburbs. Like any other country including India, the cost of living in metro cities is higher as compared to the regional areas of New Zealand. For example the cost of living in Auckland will be higher than that in Hamilton. The average costs of living in New Zealand would range between $ 15000- $ 20000

The climate in New Zealand is temperate with relatively mild, wet winters and warm and dry summers

Public Transport

Public transport in New Zealand is safe, cheap and reliable. All the major cities offer public bus transport. Taxis are affordable and safe options with most drivers belonging to the New Zealand Taxi Federation.
The train network in Auckland and Wellington are comfortable and enjoyable. Ferries are also an important mode of transport between the north and the south island. Public ferries are available between several Auckland suburbs to most of the islands of New Zealand.
